While there Wt had the pleasure of attending ft. marriage, me contracting jj<xx tkft being Miss Annie Newtbn and Mr Bennie Barrineau, both | of that neighborhood. The church was handsomely and taatily decorated for the occasion and a large crowd witnessed the ceremony. The voang folk of this vicinity recently attended a very enjoyable dance at the home of Mr J J Hanna. Owing to the heavy rain-fall of Saturday and Sunday farmers have been very much retarded with their work. The weather has changed considerably cooler but it is hoped that the fruxt crop will escape serious injury. Mr 8 L Thompson of this place is suffering from ah attack of sorethroat. He has our sympathy and hope for a speedy recovery. New6 is as scarce as hens' teeth, but we hope to see many * long letters from your excellent corps of correspondents throughout the county. Leo, March 23:?A few of our fanners were planting corn on the 23d of March. About March 10< used to be considered corn planting time, but now it seems that the winter is of longer duration, or has it been demonstrated that the same results may be obtained by planting later in the season? From what I can learn there will be a great deal Jess tobacco planted in this community than was planted last year. There was preaching at Prospect chnrch last Sunday afternoon by j Rot W M Harden, who delivered an instructive discourse to a large con- i gregation. Among the worshippers were noted Mr and Mrs S B Poaton i of Jobnsoiiville. ? Judging from the attentions that a certain young man is paying one of onr local belles we are listening i for the chime of wedding belh in the near future. This same young man is building himself a dwelling, which it is not to be supposed he will occupy all by himself. Now, I desire to say just a word ftbmit onr tmblie roads. I hate to be the first to make a kick in this direction, but it seems that no one else will, so here goes. I intend what I say to apply to the public roads around Leo, where I and others have paid taxes to have them worked and the work has not been done. There about 22 men who paid taxes on this section of the road last year and I am satisfied that the road did not get $5.00 worth of work. Now I want the men who have this business in charge to explain what has become of the rest of the money that was paid in. There has not been a bridge fixed except by men who paid their taxes, and if they received any pay for it I do not know unvt.hincr nboilt it.
