About Advertising.
Some of our readers are disposed
to criticise us for the amount of
space given to advertisers. They
fail to realize that bnt for the advertisers
who buy our space we could
not afford to sell this newspaper for
less than two or three dollars a year.
They do not appreciate the fact that
the total amount we are able to collect
from subscribers in a year?
however strenuous our efforts?falls
? short of the actual expense of pub
lisnirg tne paper. 1 nev are not
aware that the advertiser is not only
the best friend of the publisher, but
of the readers of the newspaper as
\ well.
For this reason we, from time to
time, request our readers to buy their

goods from business houses whose advertisements
appear in our columns,
and at the same we ask that they
put in a word for The Record when
they patronize these advertisers.
Tell them that yon saw their adver....
tisementsm this newspaper and were
induced thereby to give thein your
patronage. It costs you nothing to
do this, and not only will it be a
direct benefit to us, but you will indirectly
benefit yourselves thereby.
Here is the principle in a nut shell:
A part of the money you trade with
the advertiser he pays back to us
for our space; and since every dolJor
we make above expenses is invested
in improving our equipment,
we return what w e get to you in a
a better paper for the same money.
We aim to keep constantly improving
the paper as our means will
warrant; and unless forced to do so

price of subscription will continue
