It is probable that the Madiaon
Square Theatre, one of New York'#
oldest play houses, will never open
again. Mayor MeClellan's order to close
until certain changes were made to insure
the safety of the public carried
with it an obligation to make so many
alterations that the management has
been unable to comply with it, and believes
that it is Impossible to do so.
The Shubert brothers have practically
decided not to reopen their play
house.
