The Presbyterian church is now without a pastor, Rev Saddler having resigned. The coming Conference Mill give the Methodists a new shepherd, Rev Rushtou, having been here the limit, fouryeais in succession. What the Baptists Mill do regains to be seen between noMr and the close ot the year, ae any rate the new year will witness a new order of things in at least two of our three white churches. S W G Shipp, Esq, of Florence, was noted here Tuesday. Messrs Charles and Herbert McDaniel of Cartersville spent Sunday and Monday in town. Mr T J Reynolds of Florence was in towu Saturday and Sunday. He came down to attend the funeral of Mrs Phillips, who was a sister of Mrs Reynolds. Mies Annie Powers of Harpers is spending some time at her uncle's Mr J J Morris. She will be here the re-1 mainder of the year. Mr John T McElveen came np from Cades Monday and speut the day in town on business. Mrs Cornelia A Phillips, wife of our townsman, Mr J P Phillips, departed this life on Friday, the 23rd j instant. All that was mortal of her ! was laid to rest in the Baptist church ! yard on Sunday afternoon. The j funeral services, which were attend- j ed by a very large crowd, were con- j ducted by Rev J E Rushton, of the ! Methodist church, of which Mrs! Phillips was a devoted member. God's will is !il reason enough for those who love ^ , 8; an t trust Him. Our departed one was of a cheerful disposition and she is missed beyond the power of words to express. The loss will fall heaviest on her ^ mother, to whom she was devoted jj and whom she delighted to serve. |? Mrs Altman was married to Mr J E Altman September 28, 1902, and though their wedded life was short it revealed to her husband the true value of his wife. We sympa- w thize with the bereaved in their 111 deep sorrow, but let us not think of q her suffering and the grave.
