Editor County Record:? Say, Mr Editor, has any one this side of the Lick Observatory, Cal., (except the "Sage of Possum Fork") seen the Borelli comet? If so, we have seen no mention of it in the newspapers. The "Sage of Possum Fork," however, seems to have batted right up with it and sat by its canfp fire until he has become quite familiar with its wood pile, logtrain and dumping-pit, located the Lord only knows where, whether in Hades or Poasum Fork, but certainly.in too hot a place for an ordinary Christian. Will "the Sage" give us a little more light (not heat, for I'm still sweating) as to that comet? Did he stand right in the land of "Possum Fork" and view it with the naked eye? If so, when, whete and at what hour of the night? I lost several hours sleep myself looking for that comet but failed utterly to find the slightest trace of it. Will he also give us a list of the counties now using the grounds around their court houses as public hitching-places and and camping grounds? Will he also tell us how other prosperj ous towns all over our State get along without court house grounds for public hitching places? And if it be the right and proper thing for the various counties why not let il apply to the Stale House grounds as weli? Put up hitching posts, etc., around our Capitol building and allow the toughs and the off?scouring of creation to congregate there as thev do in the court house yards ( where allowed) on public occasions. Superintendent Million Has Plans for Exhibition for the Kingstree School. Superintendent W E Millipan received today the plans for the new graded school at Kinjrstree from Louis Jacobs, a member o* the board of trustees of Williamsburs county, requesting their exhibition to Charleston contractors, who may desire to bid upon .1-- 1- 'pu-. k.iilair.o. The plans and specifications speak for themselves and their exhibition here will save the contractor the trouble and expense of going to Kingstree to inspect them. Scranton, September 21:?The first bale of cotton ever ginned at Johnsonville was ginned by Messrs Poston and Ilaselden, Sept, 11,1903, for Mr. R. Cannon. We have had some nice, cool weather during the past week. Mr. W. B. Brown ol Leo, whiletightening up someot the machinery of his gin some time ago, got his right hand caught and badly hurt. The post-office department has made quite a change in the mail route that now runs from Scranton to Johnsonville, to take effect July 1st, 1904. It will go from Lake City to Leo, and on to Vox, then to Venters, double service. A new route from Jay to Leo, and one from Venters to Johnsonville will be granted. Ego.
