Mrs Weingarten and her husband lived here for several years, the latter being engaged in the mercantile business. Mr Walter Steele spent several days this week with his father's family in town. Rev C F Ramsbottom, who has filled the pulpit of the Baptist church most acceptably for about a year, tendered his resignation last Sunday to take effect in December. Both Mr Ramsbottom and his estimable wife have made many friends during their sojourn, in Kingstree, to whom their departure will be a distinct source of regret. Mr Samuel A McCullough of Benson passed the examination successfully and has been assigned the scholarship in the Normal Department of the South Carolina College. to which this county is entitled. Mr McCullough Is an intelligent and studious young man, who appreciates his opportunity, and we look for him to do well in his studies at the college. Jitn Washington, a young negro with a penchant for sporting life, was tried in the mayor's court Monday lor drunkenness and disorderliness. He was adjudged guilty and sentenced to pay $10 fine or spend 20 days on the chaingang.
