were hauled up before the inteudant
yesterday for lion payment
of street tax. The sentence imposed

10 days on chain-gang.

"Uncle" George Mitchum visited
us a short while Monday. He told
us that he had recently suffered the
ill luck ot losiug a fine $16-3 mule,
which died very unexpectedly
while Uncle George was on a visit
to Joraon, in Clarendon county.

Mr J A Epps, who has recently
returned from Jessup, Ga, was here
Tuesday. Mr Epps has been employed
as game-keeper by a company
of Northerners, who have
purchased a large tract of land
near Lanes and design making it a
rendezvous for their gun club.
Prof N D Lesesne left this week
for Allendale. Barnwell county,
where he has recently been elected
superintendent of the graded
school. Prof Lesesne is an experienced,
capable and conscientious
educator and we congratulate the
trustees at Allendale on their goodfortune
in having secured his services.
We wish him abundant
success in his new field.
