papers a few days ago, I came
across a letter from my old and
esteemed friend, Col John G Tressley,
formerly a citizen of your
town; but the letter was written
from Santa rtosa, Oal., of date
^ r. November IS, 1SS1. This, I think,
was the last letter I received
from him. In this letter he informed
me that ho was writing
sketches of history of EiRaw Battalion
and 25th South Carolina
Volunteer Intantrv, for a voting

My association with the 25i h Regiment
was of the most pleasant
character, and now (figuratively
speaking) I am in the,sere and
yellow leaf, I live largely in the
past and it would afford me pleasure
to-be put in communication
with some of my old South Car^
olina comrades. I enjoyed the
hospitality ot Capt Sellets and
his father-in-law, Zimmerman
while connected with the 25th
Regiment. Can you give me
their address? I think in or near
Orangeburg, S. C. In whosesoever
hands this missive may fall, he
will greatly oblige me by giving
such delinite information as tc
