Florence County Farmers Reso've to
Use No More Trust Tobacco
At the mass meeting of th? citizens
of the county of Florence
held at the Oonrt. House on the
11th iost, as reported yesterday
the following resolutions were
unanimously passed:
Resolved.
'I'hof ti'o will nut nnrrhnse

manuluclured tobacco or
cigars put on the markrt b.v the
Tobacco Trust; or any other goods
manufactured by the Trust where
other manufactured by independent
concerns can be purchased in
tend, regardless of any drop in
the price on the part of the Trusts.
2nd, That the chairman ot this;
organization appoint a committee I
of three to visit allthe merchants
of Florence to cu^e on fheru uot
to purchase or sell any Trust
manufactured tobacco, or other
Trust goods, where others can be
purchased.
3rd, That the chairman appoint
a committee of three to prepare a
complete liat of all tobacco products
manufactured by the Trusts
- and that these lists be given to
i tbecprese.
4tb, Tbat the Cbair appoiut a
committee of three in each township
to solicit membership in this
organization.
5th, Tbat this meeting urge on
all other communities to perfect
organizations looking to co-operation
with us on these lines.
6th, That a committee be appointed
by the Chair to confer
with the merchants of Floience
Tookiug to making arrangements
to procure the sale of from independent
companies.

Prof A K Hanks left Saturday
morning tor his home in Lancaster.
Prof Banks made a goodly number
of friends in Kingstree and impressed
his pupils in the Summer
school as a go -d teacher.
Mr Clarendon TT Frvin of
Church was in town yesterday end
came in to see us. Mr Ervin has
attending Davidson Colloge, X C
for several .years and is making a
fine record as a student at that institution.
Harry Pressley, a colored friend of
The Record, brought- us this week
a 40 lb melon of hi? ?atslng. H arry
lives Hbout three miles across
Black river on the Manning road
and <s a reputable citizen and a
good farmer
Mr P G Gourdin, who represents
Williamsburg county in the survey
to determine the disputed boundary
line betweeu this county and
Florence, was in town Saturday
and Sunday. Mr Gourdin says
that the survey has almost been
completed.

Miss Louise Shannon, from
Midway section, is visiting Misses

of Bethel neighborhood.
Miss Lillie McEIveeti, who has
been attending the Summer school
at Manning, has returned home.
Mr and Mrs Johnnie Burgess
have moved to Manning, where
Mr Burgess has accepted a position
with the McLeod-VVilkinsKing
Co.
Mr S L Thompson, the contractor
lor re-modeling Bethel Presbyterian
church, has commenced
work on the building. When re
modeled and painted, with the
finishing touches on the inside
artistically done by the ladies, the
structure promises to preseut a
beautiful appearance indeed.
Misses Retha and Selina Burgess,
who were in attendance at
the Kiogstree Summer school,
have leturned to their respective
homes.
The quarterly conference for
Lake City circuit was held at
Hebron church on Saturday, the
15th inst., by Rev J E Rushton,

on account of sickness. The
services were held in the schoolhouse.
It is lamentable that the
Hebron people have no church in
which to worship at present.
The old building has been torn
down and removed to give place
a new one soon to be erected.
