The subject of the subjoined
^sketch, published in the Colleton !
l'ress and Standard, April 1, was
the brother of Senator A H WilWilliams
of this county, whose many
friends will read with interest
this tribute to his brothei's memory:

succumbed to the grim destroyer and
breathed his lust Heartv. genial
and courteous, he hud greeted his
many fritnds iu the court house and
around it oil the afternoon of the
31st of March aud ere many hours
had passed he had crossed over the
river and rested from his many
labors.
Dr Williams was the loved family
physician and frieud not only of
most of the inhabitants of the town
but of the county. He was in the
prime of life, being but 45 at his
death, and was a citizen of this
couuty, having been oorn near Cottage
vilie, where for some years he
practice*!, tbeuce moving to Elloree,
then finally iu 1892 or 1893 locating
at Walterboro. Shortly after
his arrival here Dr Charles Witsell,
then the leading physician of the
town, passed away and Dr Williams
succeeded to most of his practice.
Takiug this position at first by
force of circumstances he held and
increased it by his own individuality
and the many charms he posessed
both personally and professionally.
The writer would like to say
something from a full heart concerning
him but he is stopped at the
threshold by the knowledge that
whatever he might say is already
known. He could say that as a
courteous, genial friend and gentleman
he was without a peer; that as
a citizen he was large hearted and
public spirited; but as a physician
what use is it to repeat what
is co ninm talk. No household to
which he ever came can fail to
call to mind the tower of strength
his calm intelligence proved, driving
away the frantic fears of sickness or
possibly death. His ear was ever
opsn to the cry of suffering humanity.
Dr Williams never hesitated
when dntv called, remuneration or

or uo reuumeration, when sickness
hovered around the home of rich or
p<>or, black or white, he was ever
* ftudv to counsel and advise, to extend
the aid of his skill, to keep at
bay the enemy of mankind. This
was not only in the town; his practice
extended throughout the county
and his in iguidoent p tvs'ique sustained
him in labors which were almost
superhuman.

of the county will mourn his loss
and a monument to his virtues and
labors will be raised, not ot perishable
brass or marble, bat iij the
hearts of sorrowing men aud weeping
women, who if they cannot follow
his mortal remaius to the grave,
can and will enshrine him in their
memories as the generous friend, the
genial mau, the faithful and tireless
physician whose very footsteps
brought cheer and hope out of darkness

ROBBED THE GRAVE.
A startling incident, is narrated by
John Oliver of Philadelphia, as follows:
"I was In an awful condition.
