^ Georgetown's Slogan.
Tuesday's election is fraught with
momentous import to Georgetown,
as that day will decide whether our
sister county is to be under negro
i i? i _ i
political domination or come iu iiue
with the rest of the State as free and
independent citizens of a Democratic
county. Georgetown is tired
of a mulatto government. The disk
tinction of having a negro county
superintendent of education and a
tar-baby representative in the Legislating
is not an enviable one.
Next Tuesday is a crucial time in
old Georgetown's history. The slogan
of the white supremacy club is,
"Meet me at the polls". Every self
respecting white man should be
there and cast his vote. "The men
behind the ballot" have said that
there shall be no more fusion. It is
now too late to retreat and well may
Georgetown say to her sons, "He who
'dallies is a dastard and he who
doubts is damned". We shall await
wifVi lroon infprrttt flip nntrome of
the straggle. Meantime we must
hope and believe that the cause of
white Democracy will triumph.

, For the enlistment ofthe pub
lie school patrons please let the
following puzzle be solved:
The public school's authorities
demand the use of |certain works
by certain authors, and the law
requires every county superin
tendent of Education to keep
these books on hand for the convenience
and necessity of the public
schools, Yet we have, within
the past two years, made direct

books personally to our Supt. of
Education and received the reply
"theae liooks are not on hand."
Please tell us what sense of justice
is there in compelling a patron to
furnish children with books which
re not kept in the county's lawful
library, (the superintendent's
office, )a8 the average store does
not deal in school literature.
When are we to get our "authorized
books?" Patron.
