Legislature, but has not yet decided j whether or not he will consent to j run. Two years ago he received a j very complimentary vote for this i office. Mr. J. S. Richardson, who for some months has held the position of stenographer and typewriter for John A. Kelley, Kjq., left last week for Columbia to take a lucrative position with the Southern Express t'o. Dr. and Mrs. L. B. Johnson and Miss Lee Kellehan, of Lake City, paid a visit to Kingstree yesterday. Rev. S. J. McConnell and Messrs. J. A. Kinder have recently received the Southern Cross of Honor from Ellison Capers Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Mr. A. C. Hines, who has recently returned from the South Carolina College, called to see us Saturday. Mr. Hines has been attending the college one year, and is well pleased with the institution. ??Ir. L. K. Schultz has closed np his store here for the rest of the summer. On September 1 he will reopen with a iuii siock oi ury goods, clothing, shoes, etc. His family left yesterday for Pawley's Island. Mr. J. W. Register and family left last Tuesday for their former home in Trio. The many friends of the family are glad to know that their departure is not to be permanent, hut that Mr. Register will probably build a dwelling here next fall, when he and his interesting. family will again become eitizeus of Kingstree. We can ill afford to lose such men as Mr. Register. Tiie following communication was received from Lake City this morning: Inquest over the body of S, \V. James not yet coucluded. A number of witnesses examined yesterday, but, night coming on and there being more witnesses to examine, inquest adjourned to meet tomorrow.. Mr. Ferrell says that the Greeloyville base ball team will be in tine form to play Manning Friday weeK. Dr. W. S. Boyd, a prominent physician of Jersey City, N. J. is visiting relatives at his former home, in Williamsburg County. The doctor has a large circle of friends to ; whom Ills visits are always a pleasure. Mr. M. J. Cullen, the suave and accommodating operator in the uptown telegraph office, went to Charleston Tuesday to attend the wedding of his sister, which interesting eveut cauie off Wednesday evening, June 2i. Mr. W. E. Snowden, of Choppee, "rode the goat" for the third time last Friday, and is now a Master Mason. Judging from his fresh and smiling appearance Saturday morning he suffered no great damage from the strenuous experience. Mr. E. M. Arrowsmith, manager of M. F. Heller's livery and sales stables in Georgetown, arrived in j town yesterday to spend the sumi mer mouths. Mr. Heller has not sold out or permanently closed up his branch stables in Georgetown, but merely sold his 'bus and horses and suspended business for the summer.
