SUPPLEMENT. THE COUNTY REC0RD7 KINGSTREE, S C. . MAY 1, 1902. FREE SEED. Strong Plea Against Our Representation Being Cut Down. There are a great many reasons why we do not want our representation cut down. One of the strongest reasons is that in case .he representation is out down our annual-supply of live seed will likewise drop ofT. Just at this time of the year we are rejoicing that we have representation at Washington. There is nuthing that tills a constituent so full of joy as to have a nice little package of goverinent seed handed out through the postolFice window to him. His joy abates somewhat, however, alter he has planted them and waited several weeks lor them to come up. Often he swears that he will never tool with government, seed again, but next spring he will be as glad to j . .1 ... ||,t. S.-HIIP gei mem v?v? feeling of lliankt ilness will steal j vverhiinas he grasps the little I package with his senator's name worked neatly in file upper right hand corner where the stamp ought to be. It would he a great sorrow to ns to have to torero 7iiis pleasure, which at its best happens only once a year. \ The Southern people should be veiv carelnl in the selection of *nen to represent them in congress. , We need I here strong men, men f who will put u}> a strong, siiff ipght. men who will not stand idly by while Northern and Western senators !i!i their coffers with j gove* unit nt seed, leaving none I'm j the South. We may add here j that we have o-iver heard ol' seed in rollers, hut sunno.se j thai a coffer is about as handy a thing for seed as anything else. If our own South Carolina sen-1 si tors would exert as much force in l getting us seed as they do in I punching each other's faces, we j Would be wading around in seed ! knee deep. We have always I Uioughtthatthegoverniiientshoul'l j furnish with each package of >eed ; a ueat little step ladder so that j 1 lie seed may get up.?Spartan-j b-irg Free Lance. I Where Adam Failed.
