In base ball as well as some
other thinirs it is difficult to lorecast
results, and it is not well to
count ?oose-e.e?:s before they are
hatched. After the severe drubbing

on the former's own grounds

boys exe pec ted to "win in a walk"
when the Lake City team came
over Tuesday to plav the second
name of the series. The friends
of the home team were equally I
confident and odds of three >

against the visitors. One enthusi
astic friend, of the iiome team lost
two dozen cigars on an even bet
that Kincstree would double the
scores made bv Lake City.
At 4 o'clock sharp the game
was called by Cmpire St. Ainand
and the Kingstree team took the
field. The game started off
beautifully, neither side scoring)
until Jie third inning, when Lake I
City took a halting streak and I
made four scores. In the fourth
inning Kings!ree made her first,
two runs and the visiters piled up
four more. The fifth inning yield-1
ed nothing to either side. In the!
sixth Kingstr&e got in one more'
score, while Lake City added two;

is visiting her sister, Mrs. W. M.
O'Brien, of Heinemann's.
We are sorry to report the illness
ol two'of our citizens, Mrs. J.
F. Register and Air. W. S. McKIveen,
who liave been confined to
their beds for about litteen days
with intermittent tever. We hope
for them a speedy recovery.
