Speaking of Style.
Apropos of the matter of style a
writer in the London Bookman a few
months ago gave figures to illustrate
hronologically the decline of seni

by finding the average words per sen,

Hooker 41.40. Macaulay 22.43, Emerson

Kipling,and. say, Richard Harding Davis,
today it would be found that there
would be a further decline in the unmber
of words in a sentence."

under former contracts, aggregate now
