A New Scheme For Street Mimic.
An enterprising trio 01 Italians nave
a new scheme for strict music which
is proving very successful iu extracting
coins from the dwellers on the upper
west side of New York City. To
the ordinary piano organ of the street
they have attached a system of drums
and cymbals. These are ver> effective
when the manipulator of the machine
grinds out the Sousa inarches and the
rag-time airs that appeal so strongly
to children ana others who have a |
fancy for this sort of music. There is
a slap and dash about the music that
intariably draws beads to th>* windows
of the better class of apartment
house and tenements before which the
players halt. The novelty catches the
owners of these heads, and ae- a result
there is an unusual shower of pennies
and nickels for the operators of the
machine, with frequent requests for a
repetition of the numbers that strike
the fancy of the nickel-throwers. As
a result of this unwonted prosperity
th<? machine has a crew of three men,
one to do the grindiug cf the organ,
while the other two pick up the small
change which comes at the trio iu
sufficient quantity to keep them busy.

Dutch cheese of various kinds was
seen at the Paris exposition. The
spiced Ley den cheese, Gouda sweetmilk
cheese, the well-known Edam,
was there. But all these varieties are

Holland just as well as in rhe places
from which they take their name. The
farmers of Budegraven had a cheese
exhibit at the exposition which for
variety and excellence can vie with
the products of the better-known localities.
ftudegraven now does a larger
cheese trade than any other district
of Holland, the output last year being
50,070 pounds. Chese generally is estimated
by the cat load.
