H. L. Whithx-k left Saturday on
a trip that will extend over sortie

where he wilt take in the State fair,

We wished earnestly that C, F.
McCoy would be appointed permanent
agent at this place, hut in this
we are to be disappointed. The oflicials
in following the custom of
the company in filling a vacancy bv
regular promotion, will appoint
.Mr. Blow. We iegret to lose .Mr.
.McCoy, who js a good agent and a
gentleman. We hope \vc shall he
warranted in saying the same of
his successor. If we had a voice in
the Selection of assistant agent, we
would vote that the present incumbent
be retained forever.
The doors of the city eouit room,
like those of the temple of Janus,
are seldom closed these autumn
days. Last week was especially
lively and the harvest correspondingly
rich. To the roll call on Monday
two answered to the chatge of
Shunk and disorderly" and one to
"disorderly" without the drunk.

Mr. Ji. Milliard \Viliis,<?f IJascom,
Fla., and HissJVlabel Thomas, eld<?st
daughter Of Mr. and Mrs. M. A.
Thomas, were married on Thursday,
2">th instant, at5) a. m., by the
Kev. T. J. Uooke. The marriage
took olaceat the family home, and
<wns witnessed by a few near relatives
of the bride and groom. An
hour and a half after the ceremony
the young couple, aiuid showers of
rice, boarded the southbound train.
They will spend some days at Cott
.gcVille, Colleton county, among
' * m,. Willis. Thence
roiauvw v/i ? ...
they will go to their home in Florida
tob<?gin a life that we sincerely
hope will end after many, very
many years, and then upon sunny
sh>|*?s by banks upon which sweet
south winds whisper "peace." Mr.
Willis is certainly very lucky boy.
Lake City has no more popular nor
generally beloved young lady than
i ie one he won. May they reap the
> tv best that the future shall bear.
1 les-iugs be theirs, of peace, joy and
sunshine.

A largo number of the friends and
