whole delightful day our voting people
declared themselves absolved
from allegiance to anything that

as a picnic ground than the one above
mentioned; and we are sure not
one ever more successfully entertained
it.s visitors. The crowd began to
gather early and count iuucd until
bout one o'clock, coming from all
parts of the county. We know our
fri-nus expected a good time when
some of them came twenty miles on
a July day for it. We believe they
were not disappointed. Shortly after
arriving the crowd began to scatter
over the place until everywhere,
-?down by the spring, at the river's
edge, in tilt? old house, on the hill, in
the buggjes and.in every nook and
corner there was a happy pair to be

the gay talk and merry laughter of
hoys and girls who were relating tile
pleasures of the past, ami mingled
w ith all, the serious tones of a few

Quite a number went to the
wharf to see it leave and to hid its
passengers come again in the near
future. Our friends from Georgetown
and vicinity are always welcome
among tis.
After a long morning of rooming
and talking, dinner was acceptanie,
and very soon all were laying the
foundation tor the following iialp

baskets and boxes that v/er.
carried full werejemptied, yet strange
to say, the people brought had:
everything they tarried. Lemonade
was served in abundance, and
Mas occasionally drunk in abundaii' t
by some of our thirsty youths (the
writer included). Ice cream was
sold on tLe ground, and v.oe to the
' moneyless man" who happened to
take his girl near the tempting sight.
In the afteruoon/vyy youjag gentlemen
began to play, a "jig" on t)>e
lawn .and very eoon a crowd was
attracted by the music, which was
excellent. We ire sorry we cannot

Finally the time came to leave,
ami cue by one the buggies rolled
away carrying their freight to their
