[Written for last week.]
The long looked lor rain reached
us last Sunday, and since then we
have had several heavy showers.
The oat crop in this section was
remarkably fine.
The culture of tobacco is a new
industry, introduced here last year
by Mr. S. J. Lan^slon, of Cheraw.
He has increased his crop, and it
he meets with success several others
will try it another year. We
have the proper land?why not
cultivate more tobacco ami less
cotton?
The young folks of Greeley ville
gave a surprise party last Thursday
evening at the residence of
Mr. W. J. Ferrell. All report a
pleasant time.
Mr. C. E. Uegistcr, formerly of
North Carolina, hut now of Crcelevville,
made a Hying trip to
Manning Monday last.
Miss Nellie Mallard, who has
been attending Converse College,
returned home Tuesday, accompanied
by her friend, Miss Bertha
Whittiuglon.
Misses Edith Crock and May
SchiUley, of Orangeburg, are visiting
relatives nuar this place.
