L Hirsch.who ar * attending ti e Souih Carolina college, spent several days at their respective homes here last week. # The artesian well on Academy street was cleaned out last week. the well was made larger and deeper, and now the flow is much better Kian ever before. Mr. Joel E Brunson has had bored at his mill just over the trestle an artesian well that is said to be tl e finest in this section of the country. : i Cards of invitation have been issued announcing the marriage of Rev. VV B McKnight, of Effing-, ham preached in the Baptist church here last Sunday morning #; and n;ght. Mr. McKnight is a young man, and is an excellent preacher, bis sermons showing the result of much deep study and earnest effort. Through the courtesy of Miss Louise-Gilland, we have received a copy of the last number of the Converse Conscript, the college magazine, of which MissGilland is one of the editors 'I he Conscript is one of the best college jour als published in the State and reflects great credit both upon the college and the able editora! staff. Those of our subscribers who do not receive next week's paper will know that their nai^ have been dropped from our mail-list. We have been over-indg^ent in regard to oui*delinquent subscribers. Our terms are in advance; and we cannot afford to send out the kind of oaner we do unless we are paid 1 X T < promptly. Quite a number of our subscribers have shown no disposition to pay at all, and all such _ cut off. Members of Camp James Mc Cutchen, U. S. C. V., will take notice that the regnlar quarterly meeting of the camp will be held .in the court house on Monday April 4th. Delegates to r . the reunion in Charleston will be elected that day, aud other matters of importance will come before the Camp. Those in arrears are requested to make payment to treasurer N. D. Lesesne before that day or to come to the raeetH ing prepared to pay. H Prohibition Call. Promptly at S.30 o'clock, the appointed hour, the organ pealed forth a charming wedding-inarch, played by Mrs. Albert Moseley and the bridal party entered the church. There was no new testimony introduced. "Three witnesses were put upon the stand to say that they saw two dead bodies in the ruins ot the postoffice the mornins after the fire.
