Inveen, residing at 720 Henry St., Alton III., suffered with sciatic rheumatism for over eight months. He went in with the Tillman tide and was elected attorney general of the State. He has served several vearsin congress. During the present session be has made the most notable speech that has yet been delivered. Ostensibly he was arguirig for protection to Southern articles, if we are to have a taraff law. He gave statistics and a great deal of valuable information which seems to have made a lodgment in the nothern and western mind, for the speech is having the widest sort of publicity. It was neally a great speech for the south and had no politics in it. : Such speeches w ill produce tenfold the good for this section than will come from three or four day speeches on Spain's inhumanity and Kngiand's obstinacy. ?Montgomery (Ala.)
