down upon the keg at Catawba
Junction and arrested Mr. J, I),
Davis, the U., C. A N. agent. The

The following notice is published
for the benefit of all owners and
managers of lots and buildings in the
town of Darlington:
The following persons have been
appointed by the Mayor and Council
as a Board of Health: B. C. foment,
\V. B. McGin, W. B. Bmmson.

ing section of an Act amending the
Charter of the Town of Darlington,
approved December 26, 1884.
Sea 26. That the said Mayor and
AUonnen shall have power to abate
the nuisances within the incorporate
limits of said- town, and also to ap
point a Board of Health for said
town and to pass such ordinances as
may be necessary to define the power
ana duties of the said Board of
Health, and to impose n lino of not
more than twenty-five dollars upon
•fey person who shall rofns# to serve
upon the said Board of Health; and
it is expressly provided herein that
upon die failure of any person in
possession of laud within the corpo
rate limits of said town to cleanse
the privies or water-closets or remove
auy other nuisance from the premise
in bis possession or under his control
when so directed by either the Mayor
and Aldermen or the Board' of
Health, It shall be made the duty of
said Mayor and Aldermen to cause
their marshals or other employees to
cuter the premises in question and
abate the r,aid nuisance at the ex
pense of the said person in posses
sion of wild premises; and if any
person shall interfere with the mar
shal or other employees of said town,
he shall be adjudged, upon proof to
convict, guilty of a misdemeanor,
for which he may bo tried before the
said Mayor and Aldermen and sen
tenced to pay a fine of not more than
one hundred dollars or be imprisoned
for ftot more than thirty days; and
if person in possession of said prem
ises, when the expense for cleaning
the same shall be demanded of him,
shall refuse to pay the same, he
shall be adjudged guilty of a viola
tion of the town ordinances, and
may be tried before the said Mayor
amt Aldermen, and upon conviction
may be adjudged to pay a fine of
not more than twenty-five dollars'or
imprisonment for hot more than
ttfibtjt days.

controlling lots or buildings ore re
quested to put their premises in
thorough order ns the Board of
Health will re port all nuisances to
the Council who will take action at
once in tho matter.
