ARIZONA KICKER.
AN APRIL FOOL JOKE THAT BILL

Editor Comes to His Assistance.
[By Charles B. Lewis.]
• Monday forenoon we received by
stage from Captain Jackson of the
Jackson ranch a beautiful pair of
rattlesnakes which had been captured
by some of his cowboys. We were
arranging to forward them to Chi
cago and left the box for an hour or
so ou the front steps of the Kicker
office. For fear that some idiot
would come along and stick his lin
ger into one of the holes bored for
ventilation we printed and hung out
a sign “Don’t Poke!” It hadn’t been
out 10 minutes when that old critter
of a Bill Henderson came along, mid
being about half slewed he took the
sign and box for au April fool joke
and deliberatdy poked. We got out
just as he yelled, one of the snakes
having bitten him, of course. We
ran him into the butcher shop and
cut off the finger and sent for a doc
tor, and during the next hour we got
three quarts of whiskey down his
neck. He is still drunk, but the
poison has been neutralized, and he
will come out on top. The next time
he secs a hole and a sign of “Don’t
Poke!” he will probably stop to find
out whether the hole is an under
ground route to Tombstone or stops
short against something with teeth.
He can have his missing linger by
calling at this office, though we be
lieve we could claim it as a relic.
His honor the mayor (who is our
self) desires us to announce that he
sincerely regrets the incident that
took place in the oommen council
rooms Tuesday evening, but at the
same time feels that he was in no
wise to blame for the occurrence
people become panic stricken, this
town would have been blotted off the
face of the earth, to be heard'of no
more. When all the danger had
passed and the people realized their
narrow escape, there was an hour of
rejoicing, and we doubt not that
more than one heartfelt prayer arose
to heaven.
SIIILO’S CJltE, the great Cough
and Croup Cure, is in great
demand. Pocket size contains twenty
five doses only 25c. Children love
it. Sold by Druggists.
Read G. K. Ryan’s advertisement
to-day. He guarantees a cure for
kidney disease. References furnished
on applicatiod.
Many rise in the morning with a
headache and no inclination for
for breakfast. This is due to torpidity
of the liver and a derange condition
of the stomache. To restore healthy
action to these organs, nothing is so
efficacious as an occasional dose of
Ayer’s Rills.
KARL’S CLOVER ROOT will

Dr. J. A. Boyd has secured the agen
