The Darlidgton steamer arrived
too late to be of any service, but was
kept for awhile in ease of another
fire. Owing to the exhaustion of the
water in the hydrants, the engine
was stationed in the yard of l he ma
chine shops.
Despite the scarcity of water the
fire was practically under control
when another broke out in an cut-
building in rear of the Central
Hotel, and which was thought to be
of incendiary origin. This consum
ed several buildings, tiie largest loss
being the Central Hotel, which will
putthe traveling public to very serious
ineonveiiisuce. ?fr. Barringer was
putting an addition to the hotel ana
bad a large lot of furniture stored in

ance on ibis and none of it was
saved.
