'I'liey told me to stand by the Ocala platform, and I am going to do it if I meet my political death by it.” But Mr Watson could not have made a more dishonest answer. He conducted his campaign for Congress as a Demo crat, the delegates who voted for his nomination were elected to the nominating convention as Democrats, and. as Democrats, voted for him because he claimed to be a Demo crat, and in November last he was elected to Congress as a Democrat. It is impossible for his “bosses” “my people” to have told him “to stand by the Ocala platform.” Mr. Wat son was nominated for Congress in October, and elected in November. The Ocala platform was not adopted until about the middle of December, about two months after “my people" had selected Mr Watson as their nominee for Congress, and more Gum a month after he had been elected to Congress as a Democrat. Mr. Wat son will explain the chronological discrepancy in his statement at Bateslmrg, hut he has left “my peo ple,” no room to doubt that he has turned traitor to his party. Senator Butler deserves to he thanked for having compelled Mr. Watson to tell what he is and where he stands. He has pressed the button; “mv people” will do the rest at the next election in the 'Tenth district.—News and Courier. The Best I Have Ever Known.
