A Word About Our
Millinery Department
You will find a complete stock of
trimmed and nntrimmed hats of the
latest fads. The latest gilt trim
mings, flowers and ribbons, by the
way just got m a very pretty line of
cllildrens white cups, a glance at
the famous Jones case, by an nlmost
superhuman exhibition of courage,
did manage to convict a wholesale
murderer of manslaughter. A uinn
who is a witness in court, anil who
8 rears to a fnDehood, loses the re
spect and confidence of the com
munity, and we fpil to see wherein
the juryman, who takes an oath to
do his duty, and then perjure.; him
self, is any the less culpable than
the witness whose testimony is false.
Social restraint can very often effect j
reforms where the law itself is pow
erless, and we suggest that this oath
breaking jury 1 e treated to n little
social ostracism; and while it wont
undo the wrong done in this case, it
will be a warning that men, who sit
on juries in the future, will be very
apt (o heed. Just let them be treated
like the perjurers that, they are, and
it can pretty- safely be asserted that
when a similar case arises, the jury
will be more than apt to do their
duty.
