The road is now leased for a term
of years, and is: thought to bo paying
the stockholders, if not tho operators.
The mercantile business of Grem
vilK; is not at extensive as might b
supposed, though its industries and '

of some importance, und the mistress
of the (S. (',) mountain cities, which
poutiou it run hohl, although from
lack of foresight, Sparlauhurg may
be allowed to take her place for
which "she is making desperate strides.
The schools hero, as wc know from
reputation, are of b;gh grade in
every particular, and help not a little
to increase her prosperity and tone
her soeii t y.
There is a peculiarity about Ihc

ticeable elsewhere, and that is the
men seem to vie with the 1'itr sex in
the art of line dressing, and often, if
