leavings of the colored people, broke
up, und tho money disappeared.
Tho Bank was established, man
aged nud finally robbed by Republi
can philanthropists. Nobody else is
responsible.
Mr. ISIlis, a Democrat, has now
introduced a bill into Congress pro
viding that the whole of the assets of
tho Freedtnan's Dank shall be real
ized within eight days, and appro
priating two million dollars to pay
the depositors or their representatives
who are the eolored men and women
of the South.
The bill meets Democratic support,
' and, if impracticable at tins sossion ,
at .least at tho next roliefwillbo
given to the colored people on this
score, and the Democratic party will
be put on record boforo the country

tho Colored- poople, tho money that
tho Republicans stolo from them.
No wiser stroke of policy could bo
adopted by tho Democratic party,
and the attention of tho colored
people, and especially of these who
have suffered, is called*to those move
