Judge A. 1". A Ulrich was in Town
last Friday and a guest of our Towns
man Col. W. J. DeTrevtlle. The
Judge seems to he in good hca'th and
lemiuds one of the good ante-bellum
times; indeed ho is t e only link that
binds the present .Judiciary with that
of the past, and the mantle which hs
luid aside so creditably in obedience,
to a tyrant's orders then, re-t grace
fully upon his shoulders now.

husbandry than in former years by

cently (with his family) come among
us, from Eufclaud, has learned our
farmers that excellent turnips c in be

with very little or no manure, when
planted late in the winter us a field
crop. About the last of January he
planted two acres, and has made a
fine crop of nicely flavored bulbs, to
which several of our townsmen can
testify. Mr. Had ley has been bring
ing tuem to our market at. remunera

We learn that while the RvJV.T. S.
Hnllman was absent from home in St.
Matthews, his members from the St.
Matthews and Lebanon congrega
tions enterod his premises, changed
the appearance of things and furn
ished the bouse and family with a
generous supply of provisions, &c.
for some time. Kolhing affects a
faithful j astor, or encourages him in
his labors as such manifestations of
esteem ou the part of his members.
We congratulate these churches be
cause of their pastor, and the pastor

At a meeting ot the County Demo
cratic Executive Committee hell
yesterday, a meeting of the County
Convention was appointed for Th?rs
day 18th day ot July to appoint dele
gates for the State Democratic and
also Congressional Conventions.
It was also determined to refer the
matter of Primary Election to tho
Clubs and tobe definitely decided at
tho County Convention in July. It
therefore becomes the clubs to can
vass the matter thoroughly and to
send delegates up properly instructed
in this matter.

ed by the Orangeburg Agricultural
aud Mechanical Association. All
the leading crops, raised on the farm,
are entered upon the list and liberal

there be a laudable ambition mani
fested in every portion of tho County
to excel in this department of indus
try, so that our next Fair will prcsen t
an array of specimens of field crops
that will refloat} credit and praise upon
our Agricultlral communities.
