When cloiuls obseare our shies, once blue,

And fate has proved to ns to false,
So changeable a friend—
We love'o wander back in life,
O'er memory's sunny plain,
And live our happy childhood o’er,
Our early loves again.
And from eomtniuilon sweet wo liud
New strength to grapple with
The crosses and the burdens which
Our daily lives must give;
.And hope points us to look above
Tills w orld of care and strife,
To that blest Louie in Heaven above,
57!-.ere there's immortal life—
Where disappointments cannot come,
Nor care, nor grief, nor pain,
Where we will meet in endless bliss
Our early loves again.
I spent three days in Memphis, visiting

reached Dcs Arc, where I went ashore.—
Here taking a coach, I went West, twenty-
i five miles, and reached the little town of
Austin.
