These are all teachers for re cognized ability who insures through, useful and attractive work. Instruction will be offer ed in sight singing, primary methods, one hand drawing civics, history, mathematics, english grammar, literature, latin, pedagogy, class manage ment, nature study, agriculture and geography, besides lectures on varions other current topics by the faculty and others. As many or as few tubjects can be taken as any one wishes. Text books for the different courses will be on sale in the budding. At the last meeting of the Darlington County Agricultur al Society, the undersigned were appointed a committee to solicit subscriptions for the purpose of repairing the build iug oyer the Mineral Spring. Owing to the unavoidable dampness the flooring is al most entirely decayed and un less the necessary repairs are very soon made, the whole building will be a wreck. This spring, as is generally known, has been a place of general re sort for nearly one hundred years, and during the early part of the past century it was the custom of a number of families to spend several weeks at the spring in order that they might enjoy its delightful and health giving waters. It has b«4}n the scene of a great many pleasant social punciions, and were there no other reasons for malting the necessary repairs, the work ought to be done on account of ti e many associa tions that are connected with it. It is the purpose of the com mittee, in case they can secure enough money, to make the re pairs permagent, making the 11 >or of cement instead of wood. Joseph M. Pouch, at one time an undertaker, of Roselle, N. J., killed three of his children and embalmed them and committed suicide. He is believed to have been insane. Land around the bayous of Louisiana and Texas, which until 1895 was classed as wdrthless, now yields $25,000,000 worth of rice. About 100 Japanese expert rice growers are in this region. Friends of Senator Joseph Bailey, of Texas, state tha’ he has been selected by the Demo cratic national committee to act as temporary chairman of the St. Louis convention, and that Hon. John Sharp Williams, of Mississippi, minority leader in the House of Representatives, will be permanent chairman. An explosion which occurred in the 11-story warehouse of the Coming distillery, the second largest in the world, at Peoria, 111., completely wrecked the building.
