The Darlington Guards’ have formed a Library Association in connection with their organ ization which bids fair to be come one of the leading institu tions of the town. Any mem bsr of the Guards—Active, Fonary, or Contributing—may become a member of this Asso ciation by agreeing to paj the dues necessary to secure suc.h membership; to wit, the sum of six dollars a year for the first year that he joins, and the sum of three dollars a year for every year after the first. These dues will be collected in twelve equal monthly installments, on the first of every month—fifty cents a month during the first year of membership, and twenty ffve cents a month for every year thereafter. They are, of course, in addition to the regular dues (50ots a month) now paid for membership in the Company itself. Every member of the Library Association will have the privilege of electing two ladies as Honrary Members, whose membership will resem ble that of the regular members of the Association in every res pect, except that they will be exempt from the payment of dues. Members of the Darling ton Guards who are not mem bers of the Association will not be permitted to take any vol ume from the Armory Building, though, within the building they will have all the rights and privileges concerning the use of the books that are accorded the members of the Library Association themselves. The latter will have the additional privilege of bor rowing books from the Armory —not more than two books at a time, however, will be allowed any one member. All borrowed books must be returned at 1 he end of two weeks, though the loan may be extended for an other two weeks on application being made therefor. The Association will began operations on Jan. 1st. A large number of new books have been ordered for it, and are now on the way here. The first one thousand volumes will consist of fiction; but, after that, the books added from time to time, will be on all varieties of sub jects.
