The books will cloee on May 25. At the annual meeting of the State Medical Association, which has just been held in Columbia, Dr. W. J. Garner was elected third Vice-Presi dent. This is an honor for so young a Physician, and one that gives pleasure to his friends. Prof. F. C. Woodward will deliver his address here on the S4th. of May. The subject of it will be “The Literary Develop ment and Literary Influence of the English Bible”. It is ex pected that a large crowd will oe out to hear the distinguished and entertaming lecturer. Testimony in the McLaurin— Wilson election contest is now being taken in the Court House hereon the part of McLaurin. C. 8. Nettles, Esq., represents McLaurin and W. T. Andrews represent* Wilson. The Notar ies are R. L. Dargan for Mc- Laurin and R. F. Jackson for Wilson. Mr. L. C. Glenn has at his disposal a scholarship in Con verse College, good for two years, and worth about $50 a year, which he will be glad to award to some young lady who wants it. Should there prove to be more than one desirous of obtaining it, a competitive ex amination will be held.
