All Over The fair that the anti-Tillmanites and Straightouts be required to make all the concessions ? Should not the Tillmanites make some? They profess to have the good of the Democracy at heart and, this being the case, they should he willing to meet the other faction half way. There is one way, and we be lieve it to be the only one, by which the party can he united. The Straightouts make a fair proposition and, if the other side will agree to it, the white people of the State will very soon come together. The Till manites can agree to it without compromising themselves and, when peace and harmony will be the result, it does appear to us that they should he ready to do so. The proposition referred to is this: Let each faction nomi nate a ticket. Let the two tick ets be submitted to the people through a direct primary, in stead of through a primary for delegates to the State nomina ting convention for the people should vote directly for the can didates of their choice. The! members of each faction shall pledge themselves not to sup port, in the case of defeat at the primary, a ticket in opposition to the regularly nominated Dem ocratic ticket at the general election. In other words they will agree to acquiesce in the result of the primary. Let every white man vote at the primary, provided he first subscribes to the following oath. I am a Democrat and am entitled to vote and have not voted be fore at this primary and, fur ther, I pledge myself to abide by the result of the primary. Can anyone say that the above proposition is not fair ? The followers of Tillman claim that they are largely in the ma jority and they should, there fore, be willing to put their claims to a fair test. If Tillman secures the nomination at the primary he will he elected with out opposition, for the Straight- cago and New York, who are outs will pledge themselves not ™ 8t J!]® ry ^ to oppose him. Rhode Island has elected a solid Cleveland delegation to the National Democratic Conven tion. The famine in Russia has ex tended to Austria, where thous ands of persons are suffering for the want of food. A bank at Cold Water. Mich, was robbed of $20,000 on Wed nesday night of last week. The safes were blown open and every cent in the hank was stolen. Trains collided on Tuesday of last week, near Milwaukee, Wis., and seven men were kill ed and several other were injur ed. The accident was due to carelessness of a switchman. In a riot near Edmonton.Kv., on Saturday, between twelve white men and eleven negroes, four negroes were killed and three or four wonnded and one white man was seriously hurt. The dread disease, of tvphus. hasanpeared in New YorkCitv The disease was brought to this country by Russian emigrants. It is very contageous and al ready a number of deaths have l>een caused from it in New York. Cant Timothy Maher, a ven erable steamboat man. died in Mobile. Ala. last week. He smuggled the last cargo of slaves into this country in 18(11. when he brought from Africa one hundred and sixty negroes. The Supreme Court of Ohio has prohibited companies from carrying out or fulfilling any provisions oi agreements under trust contracts. The decision was made in the case of the State vs. the Standard Oil Com pany. In Green County. Alabama, on Thursday, Rev. John Colvin a Methodist preacher, shot and killed William Herdy a deacon in his church and fatally wound- j !ed David Smith a brother in-law J of Herdy.
