Times are tight and there are a hundred children to feed. That isthestateof ulfairs at the Thornwell Orphanage. Think of it, there are children gathered together at Clinton, from nearly every Southern State. They are fatherless and motherless and would be home less but for the good hand of God who lias gathered them un der these protecting roofs and raised up friends to help them. You, reader, are one of those friends, if you will quickly sit down and write out a check or enclose a gift to Dr. Jacobs, Clinton, S. C., and help him to feed those orphans. Ur send a barrel of Hour or a sack or corn or a barrel of peas, or rice, or molasses. The children are from seven I different denominations. There are as many of Baptist origin as Presbyterian and as many of Methodist as Baptist among them, so don’t stand back on account of a word of doctrine. They don’t send off a child, there, because the parents did not happen to be ot their faith. Thanksgiving is closeat hand. The very time to give a thank- ottering to the helpless. Christmas is close by. How could you forget to make the orphans happy at such a time. Ami mark you, if you and peo ple likeyou do not pity and help, those orphans whl have nothing to eat or wear.
