The balloon ascension of Miss Louise Bates at the Fair yester day was a decided success. A large crowd gathered at the grounds to witness it and, as the balloon ascended rapidly and gracefully high up into the air. the audience cherred Miss Bates lustily. When the balloon was about two thousand feet above the ground, she loosened the parachute and descended slowly. The paiachute lodged in a pine tree just opposite the lYtir Grounds on the road leading to Floyd’s mill.
