Fulton market beef; W. & H. Darlington Driving Association. The above named association, mention of which was made in the last issue of The New s, is the latest addition to Darling ton’s enterprises. Ihe purpose of the association is to maintain a race course and to raise race horses for sale. A race course, half a mile or possibly a mile in length, will be located at a point convenient to town. The inten tion of the gentlemen interested in the scheme is at first to train the tine colts and horses around appreciation of the play by fre quent applause. As soon as the news of the trouble spread the policy holders in different parts of the country began to take action in tills a long felt want. Mr. Mc Kee has already obtained a pat ent for the United States and has filed applications for pat ents in Great Britain and Cana da. He has had several very fiattering offers for the dis position of the calendar from Northern houses and these he has declined, but has sold a half interest to Messrs. G. B. Howie, of Swift Creek, and A. S. Har rell, of Lydia. These three gentlemen have organized “The Novelty Manufacturing Com pany”, with headquarters at Darlington, for placing the in vention on the market. The calendars will be manufactured at Bridgeport, Connecticut, and sent to this place, from whence they will be shipped to agents and jobbers throughout the country. Mr. McKee will be general manager. The com pany will at first sell only the calendar, but intends later to buy the right to sell other novel ties. A branch office will also be opened in Canada. The goods will be placed on the mar ket by November 1, and by the time the company is well under way it is expected that the bus iness will assume such propor tions as to require the services bargain. They do not wear a very broad smile when they carry their cotton to the market and are offered 5 or 6 cents a pound for it. We count on about two-thirds of a crop in this section. Mr. S. C.
