[Youth’* Companion.]
Judge Q , who once pre
sided over a criminal court
down east, was famous as one
of the most compassionate men
who ever sat upon the bench.!
His softness of heart, however,
did not prevent him from doing
his duty as a judge.
A man who had been convict
ed of stealing a small amount
was brought into court for sen
tence. He looked very sad and
hopeless and the court was
much moved by his contrite ap
pearance.
"Have you ever been senten
ced to imprisonment!"’the judge
asked.
“Never—never!” exclaimed
the prisoner, bursting into
tears.
"Don’t cry—don’t cry,” said
JudgeQ consolingly; "you’re
going to be now!”

In the use of Ayer’s Sarsapa
rilla, you need have no fear of
arsenical poison, this medicine
being entirely free from all
dangerous drugs. Its powerful
effects are due to the skillful
combination of the best ingre
dients, and hence no ill results
ever follow its use.
An English publisher announ
ces a new work entitled, “He
Always Pleases His Wife.” It
is fiction.—Boston Bust.
The superior merit of Ayer’s
Cherry Pectoral as an anodyne
expectorant is due to a skilful
combination of the most power
ful ingredients. Nothing like
it has ever been attempted in
pharmacy, and its success in
the cure of pulmonary com
plaints is unparalleled.

Mr. Frank Huffman, a young

They pronounced his case to be
Consumption and incurable. He
