The Chesterfield Advertiser
says that Rev. J. E. Rushton, of
Clyde, Circuit, is assisting Mr.
Harley in a series of meetings
now in progress at Zoar M. E.
Church, in Chesterfield County.
Mr. J. T. Vann, jr., who is
charged with grand larceny and
larceny of live stock, was arrest
ed a few days since in Southern
Georgia. Sheriff Cole brought
him to Darlington on last Thurs
day and he is now in jail.
Mr. M. Morgan, who has been
clerking in Willcox’s drug store,
has returned to his old home in
Greensboro Georgia. The many
friends that he has made during
his stay here will greatly miss
him.

jury of the United States Court
has returned true bills against
W.W. Carrawayand W. R. Da
vis, of Darlington, for retailing
liquor without a license.
We will bet our bottom dollar
that the person who wrote to
the Charleston World on July 9,
signing himself ‘ ‘Secret Service”
has been for years howling most
vociferously for a primary, but
has suddenly become converted
and no longer thinks that the
primary is the proper plan for
voicing “the true sentiments of
the people.”

years. He has succeeded re
markably well in Darlington,
