their exorbitant demand and the
railroad refused to furnish the
train. In its efforts to take ad
vantage of the Doctor’s necessi
ties the railroad evidently over
reached itself and violated the
contract it had already made
with him to furnish a special
train at a certain price. In con
sequence of this Dr. Willcox has
sued the road for damages, plac
ing the amount at ten thousand
dollars.
[When interviewed in regard
to the foregoing statement by a
representative of The News, Dr.
Willcox said that it was correct,
except that the amount of the
damages for which he is suing
is $25,000 instead of $10,000.
The trial will be held at Laurens
in September next, and the Doc
tor is of the opinion that he has
a very strong case against the
railroad.]
