Under the modern system of management a certain quantity of milk ought to be produced throughout each month in the year, and cows should calve at all times. Calves reared be tween the first of November and the end of February generally make the best progress. There is still much to be learned on that'most important point. In stock-rearing, fattening and in feeding dairy cows, increasing attention is being devoted to the selection and blending of food. I have watched the insect family that injure the cotton as close as most of men, and I find none that is more injurious to the forms and small bolls than the small spider that I made the in quiry about. I first noticed this little insect nearly thirty years ago and saw that it was destroy ing some forms and some small bolls; at that time I thought the damage was light. They still increased, and for the last fifteen or twenty years, have been inflicting great damage to cotton.
