Mr. G. H. A Pythian Gathering. The Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias, metis in Columbia at twelve o’clock on Tuisday, Feb. 19, and a large number of K"igbts trom this County exp j ct to attend They will go over ou tbe regular train which leaves hereon Monday afternoon. Rogers Division of the Uniform Rank will be on hand to take part in the great parade, and the men are looking forward to having a fine time. At the same time, tbe final preparations will be m ide for the Columbia trip, The Byid Assignment The creditors of Mr. W. C. Byrd hold a meeting last week and agreed upon C«pt. John Flojd, assignee, as the agent ot the credi tors. The assets are placed at 81917.56 and the liabi.uos at <34- 88.22. The assignee was about to proceed with the sale of the stock of goods, when an inju.iotiou wa-< issued restraining him Irom doing so. A rule has now been issued to show cause why the assignment should not been set asiite. It is probable that tbe sale ot the stock by consent of all the parties will take place at an early day. Failure ot Mr A, Weinberg, Under an attachment of <7.500 held by Witte Bros., Messrs. Net ties & Nettles closed up the store of Mr A. Weinlieig last week. It bad been known lor sometime past that Mr. Weinberg was seeking to make a sattsfaetory settlement with his creditors. These negotiations are still pending, and it is thought that they will u tiinateiy meet with success. A. H Gleason, Esq., a New York lawyer, representing Wallace Elliot A Co., has just visited Darlington in the interst of certaiu goods which his firm sold Mr. A. Weinberg. About Pensions The recent Act ot the Legisla cure in regard to pen dons requires that a Pension Board ol eight mem bers be appointed for each County, five of wbom shall be members of the County Survivors’ Association. In accordance with this provision the Survivors’ Association of Dar* lington Couuty met in the Court House on Monday Iasi, and select ed Messrs W, E. James, •£. W Cannon, W R. 8, Lawson, E. M. Griffin and J. Wilson Fouutaiu to represent them on the Board. Maj. J. L. Coker moved that these rep resentatives be instructed to find out whether the appropristion made by tbe State for this County will lie adequate, so that, if it is not, the Associriiiou may take such steps as will relieve any actual suf fering among the Survivors iu the County. This report will be made at the next annual meeting of this Associst ou. The five gentlemen named above together with Messrs. B. 0. Nor- meut, Loess McIntosh and J. E. Bass, therefore oonsiitute the full Boaidof Pension Examiners for Darling. Thsy will meet on Tuea day next, February 19, and this will be their last meeting for some lUmp to come.
