These j rules are ra.h r cumbersome, aud some of them give promise of creat ing trouble sod annoyance; but should trouble at ise, it will be due entirely to the system itselt, as the regulations have b-*en admirably prepared, with tbe greatest care, aud could scarcely have beeu itu proved ujion. As will lie seen from one of the sections of the regulations no one will bf recognised as a caudidiate for the Democratic nomination un less he sba 1 have notified the Ex ecutive Committee iu writing of his intentions by the lltb day of August, or shall have published a card in one or more of tbe County papers to that effect before the dav named. According to the limit of time adopted by the Executive Com mittee there are only five issues of The News after tbe present one in which the notice cau appear. Tbe polls for the said Elections ah til be open at 9 o’clock, A- M., precisely, and close at 4 o’clock P. M. fi. For sach Township Club a poll shall be eetabl shed at its usual place ot meeting. Each Club shall meet on Saturday Augu *t 11* at 4 o’clock P. M., previous to tbe Election, to elect its Managers of Election. Any oath, to wit: “I do solemnly swear and affirm that I will discharge the duties imposed upon me as a mem ber of the County Election Board, honestly aud in good faith, looking to the honor and welfare of the Democratic party, and the just claims of individual candidates when involved.’’ They shall be judges of tbe election, two thirds of tbe whole number shall constitute a quorum. They shall decide all coutes'ed cases aud their ju Igmeut shall be final. 18. The Executive Committee shall meet at ‘he County Heat at 12 o’clock M. on the day following the election, to organixa and receive from the County Chairman the bal lot boxes aud aggregate the vo es cast. Tbe sequel to that correspond ence was the receipt by tbe Sheriff of a letter troni tbe Governor ex pressing his regret that be bad not been acquainted with both sides of tbe case before permitting tbe Georgia authorities to release Paw ley, aud askiug whether there was anything be could do to assist tbe Sheriff iu the matter. Rules aud Regulations tor the Gov ernment ot the Primary Election tor Darlington County, 1888. l.The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 21, proximo, for the purpose ot nomiusiing four candidates for the House of Repre sentatives, one candidate for Clerk of tbe Court; oue candidate for Sheriff, one candidate for Judge of Probate, one candidate for Corooer, three candidates for County Com- missiouers; one cau did at* for School Commissioner, sod recom mend for appointment a County Auditor and a County Treasurer. 2. The seooud Primary Election, if oue be necessary, shall be held on Tuesday, August Township, Darliugton Couuty, or will be so by the next election; that i believe iu the principles of the Democratic party, and will do all iu my power to promote its «uc cess, auu that i have not voted !>• * fore at this elec iou.” A refusal to take this pi dge, or aoy part f the same, shall be good ground for ckallenjug aud rejection. 13.
