Proceedings ot the Court
When we went to press last week,
the case of the State against Rob
en Wilson, colored, charged with
asSMilt and batteiy with intent to
kill was being tried, Maj Frartk
tt Mann, of Sumter, app.-aring for
th.- defence. The Stale charged
that the defeudaut, without provo
cation, had struck one Ben Sltgh,
also colored; oil the head with a
bar of railroad iron. Slights the
v ry peculiar looking Albino, a
tain liar character in the town of
Florence. Tho defendant claimed
that Siigh wrts advath-jug upon
him in a threatening manner, and
tiiat he made a motion as if to draw

jury found him not guilty. One of
the panel was heard to remark af
