On Sunday before last Mr. George
Hazletl and Miss Badie Aden, of
Buffalo, went through the rapids
and whirlpool this altoruoou in a
torpedo shaped barre', used by
Hazlett, and patented last summer.
They were in the rapids and whirl
pool ffve minutes, and were takeu
out of the eddy ou the Canada side,
just below the whirlpool, three
quarters of an hour 1. ter, in good
condition, Miss Alien is a respect
able girl, 18 years old, a petite bru
nette, aud rather pretty.

Yoik) Shakers are a quiet com

They are widely known, how
ever, for their strict honor and
probity in business.
The Sluikers believe that na
ture has a remedy for every dis

the rest are as yet unknown.
