There ere eeveral tbiugs which
effect the yield of batter from e cow
of eny kind. First, the food of e
eow effects it; second, the manner
of setting the milk.ehiefly in regard
to Um time which it reqeires ior the
cream to rise ; and third, the tem-
peratare et which tbif cream is
cbarned.
It has been shown by many care
ful experiments, end by the results
of long practice, that snccoleut
food helps to prodnoe a large quan
tity of fat in the milk, and also has
men an effect upon the same, as to
cause the cream to separate more
completely from the milk, leaving
less fat to be lost in the batter milk.
Hence, the use of ensilage, or, what
is better for most farmers and easier
to accomplish, the feeding oi roots
of an unobjectionable kind, such ss
mangels or sugar beets in the win

pasture in the summer. In winter
the use ol cut hay, or fodder.
Further, it baa been found, that
when the milk of the whole herd
has been mixed together, aud when
the milk has been set for thirty-six
hoars, and the cream aterned at

For twelve or fourteeu years I
have been a great sufferer from a
terrible form of blood poison which
ran into the secondary, and dually
it was pronounced a tertiary form.
My head, face aud shoulders be
came almost a mass ot corruption,
and Anally the disease commenced
eating away my skull bones. I be
came so horribly repulsive that for
three years I alMudutely refused to
let people see me 1 used large
quantities of most noted blood re
medies and applied to nearly all
physicians, near me, but ray con
dition continued to f row worse, and
iog aches and pains; my uigbts
were passed iu misery ; 1 was re
duced In ffeeb and strength ; my
kidneys were teHbly deranged, aud
life became a burden to me.
