ber last. Two others are charged
with being parties to the crime, but

Rev. J. E. Wilson, having been

ton, has resigned as postmaster at
-Florence. This is a Presidential
office aud will be filled on recom
mendation of Congressman Dargan.

Bell were united in the bonds of
matrimony; Elder J. S. DuBose
officiating.
—Mr. Elijah Wadford, au aged
man of the Enon section, was taken
very ill abo jt two weeks ago, at 3
o’clock in the morning, aud died
about si n-ris** the same morning.
His remains were interred at Zion
Church.
—Since writing “Ways and
works about Lisbon,” we have bad
a postoffice established here called
Lamar, and as a consequei.ee our
town will in the future be called
Lamar, and we suggest to the pro
per authorities that the township
heretofore called Lisbon be chang
ed to that ol Lamar.
—On the morning of the 11th
instant, J. B. Scurry, a while man
iu the employmept ot Capt. A. S.
Mims of this place, dropped dead
while in tbe act < f putting on his
shoes jnst after rising from his bed.
Mr. Scurry was a diseased man,
but in usual health at tbe time of
his death. “In the midst of lite we
are iu death.” How true it is f
On last Sunday morning, by the
Rev. Mr. Banks, Mr. Hamer Rey
nolds and Miss Viola, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Mims, of this
place, were made one in wedlock.
These young people have our best
wishes for tbeir future happiness
and wel fare.

a member of the Baptist Church,

He was strongly attached to his
church and was constant aud faith
ful in attendance upon iis services.
He bad been a gieat sufferer for
several years, but did not murmur
tier complain. Kind and gentle and
hospitable iu Ms disposition, he will
