A correspondent of the Times in
forms us of a political meeting that
took place at St Stephen's camp ground
on the 11th, at which a big array of]
speakers figured. Senator T. C. An
drews seems to have beoti severely
criticised and questioned about that

query was pointedly put by Aug. B.
Knowlton Esq., to tho Senator "if the
receiving of that money was in his
opinion legal," the reply was "he did
not know." On tho whole the colored
people are getting rid of cobwebs;

President Grant hns at last arrived
at the conclusion, that he has under

once seems to have grown irate thereat.
If President Grant desires to simply do
duty as the bond of this government,
he will permit tin investigation. It
will redown to his credit as president,

that of being the Van Dicmcn's laud
of every foreign scoundrel, or renegade
from home virtues. There may be a
rift in the cloud.
