We arc sorry that we arc tumble lo

so soon.
A Good Beginning.
Mr.' M?ller bap received funds with
which to bring to Orunjjohurg four Ger
man families.
Rain Rain.
The rain for several days past has made
the streets almost impossible?can't som
thing be done.
Taxes.
This is the last day of grace allowed
for the payment of taxes. The tax office
has been crowded for the last day or two.
Episcopal Church.
Rev. N. B. Fuller will preach here,
next .Sunday, the second Sunday in the
month instead of the third.
C.D.K-rtjohn.
Go to Mr Kort johu's forgoodeogarsand

need and just as cheap us cheap can be.
F. H. W. Bri?gmann.
Purchasers will do well to call at the
store of the above named gentleman be
fore buying elsewhere. He has goods of
the finest grades at tho lowest living price.

? ? ? mi_
Messrs. Wilcox, Gibhs h Co.
See the advertisement of tho above,
firm in another column. They offer their
Phosphates at quite a low figure, as they
have been endorsed by the farmers for
years we will cheerfully recommend
them.
Notice.
The columns of tho Times uro free to
all who wish to encourage immigration.
Our reward is in tho unmcasurable ben
efit tho County will receive from its being
pushed with a will. Let the immigrants
como in.
Mr. J. Wallace Cannon has just receiv
ed a fresh supply of first class groceries,
liquors &c., which he is offering cheap
for cash. Give Mr. C. a call and you will
be sure to buy. Don't forget to smoke his
fine segare.
The fellow who was arrested on suspi
cion of having stolen Mr. Murray Robin
son's horse, and shortly after of firing his
cotton, escaped from the jail, but was
re-arrested and brought to-town by a
colored man who had him tied to prevent
further i nning.
Subsoil Plough.
We call attention to the proceedings
of the "Robert's Sub-soil Attachment
Company of Orangeburg" published in.
another column, every farmer ought to
have one. Mr. F. H. W. Briggmnn is
the local agent at this place.
New Depot.
We understand fhat the 'Rail Road
Company has the timber out for the new
depot. and we hope it will be put up
shortly?but having had so many false
alarms about that structure we will wait
untill we see the carpenters at work.
A large crowd came to town on sale
day, and the tax collector was rundown
Mr. Mosses will rub his hands with the
soap of complucency when he sees the
returns from Orangeburg, but will that
style of soap ever cleanse his soul and
hands from tho debt he owes to a tribunal
(it not hero) hereafter.
Messrs Bull Scovill & Pike.
This popular firm with their attentive
clerks are always ready to sell their goods
to customers, and they have such a huge
assortment of Dry goods, Groceries &c,
for sale you would do well to examine
their stock before buying elsewhere they
are also agents for several phosphate
Companies.
AV. T. Muller Esq. is local agent for the
German immigration movement. Mr.
Muller is brim .full of love for the va1 ek
i.and, and holds theHouth as dear. With
him we applaud the interest which is
being awakened, and for the benefits to
be had, may Germans and Carolinians ere
long reverantly say "Dem iiimmil. sie
DANK."
The colored taxpayers are rampageous
about the lav, and say it is time to look
into the wherefore. It is high time; and
they can remedy the leak if they will.
When called on to veto again, let them
enquire who for; and if they arc not
bent upon ruin, let them turn their backs
on office seekers, and vote for men who
will dignify and not disgrace their trust.
Prize candy and fouls are us thick as
leaves in Valambrosa. One sharper after
another gathers in a harvest of money,
and chuckling leaves the field to a suc
cessor. Still they como, and so do the
crowd of dupes, who shell out their hard
earnings as freely as they do their votes,
in both cases the Yankee makes the
money, the negro says "he cheat me I
swnv."
Tooth Paste Man.
Our town is being blessed by a visit
from the above named individual, it'is
the same old story, you pay your money
and some times lose it. Wonder if lie is
the party who has been doing Abbeville
lately? we sec by the Abbeville papers
that a man has been taking in the natives
up there and that usually cool place be
came too hot for his health.
Sale Day.
The weather was unusually bad on
Monday, but that did not stop the people
from comming in in. The following is a
list of lands sold by the Sheriff:
Eight hundred and fifty acres belong
ing to-T?te, sohl in seventeen differ
ent parcels:

Barton's Cotton Planter.
The new Planter, lately patented by
Dr. W. ?. Barton of this County, has
been on exebition during tho past week
and we undoubtedly say that, in our
opinion, it is the most coinpleto planter
ever offered to our farmers. It plants
cotto.i (either in hills, or by drilling)
pens, rice, and almost nny-graiu. It can
also be used as a guauo distributor. Call
atstjre of.T. A. Hamilton and sec sample
left thore, and then send your orders to,
Dr. Barton early.
Read the communication in another
column from the German. Zeitung, and
learn like the farmers of Abbeville wheve
success ami salvation from ruin is prom
ised. The State is aroused and in earnest
on the subject of immigration, and no
one is more deserving of praise than
Major Mclchers of Charleston. Our lusty
friend \V. T. Mujler of Orangeburg is
the local agent for immigration. To him
you can apply for all information. Act
early sind promptly; Hundreds arc com
ing to our Stale, rout cheap, sell ehcap.or
even give them a,part of your land. .Se
cure the interest, and friendship of these
people, arid save your homes from the
spoiler. Nothing else will give us the

Facts worth knowing! One of the bes
