QUALITY SHOE SHOP 1105 Nance St.—Newberry Merry Christmas Wonderful Time With the simple but sincere greeting. “Merry Christmas”, all the warmth and excitement of Christmas reaches its peak. Days and weeks of list-making, gift shopping, home-decorating, party planning are reaching a happy culmination when we start ex changing the greeting "MERRY CHRISTMAS”! Every year. Christmas seems to generate more eager anticipation, here and everywhere, with earli er and more enthusiastic plan ning- approximately, for part of the spirit and joy of Christmas is in the planning. The spirit of Christmas starts with thoughtfulness. It begins in the hearts of each of us it grows with a hope, a wish, a prayer. Christmas is for rejoicing, Christmas is for giving, Christ mas is for sharing. Christmas is a spirit abounding in legend and lore, in customs and traditions honored through the years. And most of all, it is the spirit of reverence and joy that shepherds and wise men knew. To capture that spirit is to keep Christmas truly well, for it enriches all the things this won derful season stands for. Different Party: Try Wine and Cheese Most of us want to gather our friends during the holiday season, when the house is already decor ated and festive food abounds. Novelty is not necessarily the criterion for a good New Year’s party and the tried-and-true fam ily dinner, eggnog, morning or afternoon open house are perfect ly satisfactory. We do like to try something different once in awhile though and vou might consider a WINE AND CHEESE PARTY. This re quires a minimum of preparation and easier on the budget too - de pending on your taste in wine. Refreshments consist of flagons of red wine (room temperature) and white wine (very cold), large wheels of a variety of cheeses, French bread or Italian bread in long or round loaves, and wicker baskets full of polished red ap ples and yellow pears. Cheeses should be arranged on cheese boards whole, to permit guests to serve themselves. Bread should be cut at the table from the whole loaf. If you have a large crowd, pour the wine from pitchers. Over sized white candles could go down the middle of the table flanked by the bread and cheese. Put a big wicker basket of pears at one end of the table and shin ing red apples at the other. Wine seems to add sparkle to conversation and spurs wit, as the flagons go around, toasts follow naturally and there is a raising crescendo of talk and laughter. We join Santa in taking this opportunity to wish all of our customers and friends a Merry, J Merry Christmas. May your holiday be rich with the joys and blessings of happy family unity and warm friendships. It # s been our pleasure to serve you.
